The library was named in honour of Kenneth Eugene Forde. Kenneth Eugene Forde, an alumnus of Caribbean Union College returned to serve his alma mater upon completion of his Master’s Degree, first as Dean of Men, then teacher and later as President, a position in which he served during the period 1966 to 1971. It was during his term of office that the construction of the College Library began. He also negotiated the first accredited Four-year Degree, the Bachelor in Theology, at CUC. His wife, Joyce Shannon Forde, held various positions at the College as secretary, teacher and librarian. Together the Forde’s worked diligently with administrators, faculty, staff and students to improve the holdings of the Library.
