Students and faculty now have expanded research opportunities as Forde Library has officially added JSTOR and vLex to its digital library offerings in Semester I, 2025/2026
The acquisition of these two major academic databases reflects the institution’s commitment to strengthening scholarly resources and supporting a wide range of disciplines—from the humanities to law, social sciences, and global studies.
JSTOR: A Comprehensive Archive for Academic Research
JSTOR, a highly regarded digital library, offers access to a vast array of academic journals, books, and primary sources. With the new subscription now available for Semester I, students can delve into a wealth of peer-reviewed content spanning various disciplines, including literature, history, sociology, psychology, and economics
Library administrators have highlighted that JSTOR's extensive resources will significantly enhance students' ability to conduct thorough research for essays, capstone projects, and graduate theses.
vLex: Global Legal Research Made Accessible
In addition to JSTOR, the University has also secured access to vLex, a leading international legal research platform. The vLex Caribbean and UK package provides the most extensive and comprehensive coverage of Caribbean and UK legal documents available online. Approximately 6million legal documents, including judgments (including Privy Council decisions), the entire legislative history of the UK from 1235-present and more, all in one place, on one search engine.
This resource is especially valuable for students in law, political science, criminology, and international relations, providing tools to compare legal systems and access up-to-date jurisprudence.
We are excited to offer these new resources. JSTOR and vLex are powerful tools that will broaden access to information and help our students achieve academic excellence.”
How to Access the Databases
Both databases are now available through the Library’s online portal via Library resources, Electronic Databases A-Z. Students and faculty can log in using their institutional credentials from any on-campus or off-campus location.
