Using The Library Spaces Policy

The Forde Libary is committed to providing safe, comfortable spaces for research and collaboration so that everyone can get the most out of our library spaces. All library users are expected to respect our policies.

Food and Drink

Food and drink are not permitted. However, water is allowed. Please let us know if there are spills or messes so we can alert USC housekeeping.

Respect others

Respect others' use of the library space. Respecting others includes:

  • Minimizing excessive noise either from talking or from audio equipment, which respects others' need to concentrate in silent study areas.
  • Avoid strong personal scents such as perfume and cologne, as they may be distracting or cause allergic reactions in others.
  • Avoid using the Library if you feel unwell; you could potentially expose others to illness. Observe the noise level in each space and respect others' need to concentrate in silent study areas.

We will ask anyone who interferes with other patrons' use and enjoyment of the Library or otherwise engages in distracting, disruptive, or harassing behaviour to modify their behaviour or leave the Library.

Unattended belongings

Do not leave personal items unattended in the Library. Campus security will remove and hold on to unattended items. The Forde Library is not liable for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.
